Chateau Nine Peaks was started in 2008 by Dr. Karl Heinz Hauptmann, a German banker, as his third winery project after two successful wineries in Bessa Valley in Bulgaria and Alira in Romania. 

The Chinese project is based on the belief that great wines can be produced in China. Convinced that high quality is synonymous with distinction, terroir and winemaking, Karl Heinz Hauptmann and the French oenologist Marc Dworkin, decided to search for the ideal site to create the most excellent winery in China. This site was found on Nine Peak Mountain, from which the name of the Chateau and wine was inspired, and began a new heritage in winemaking for the town of Wubei, Laixi in Qingdao City. 

The domain covers 150Ha, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, both imported from France to guarantee the highest quality of clones and varietals. Our approach to great winemaking is keeping the traditional French winemaking process under the guidance of Master experts from Bordeaux, complemented with the most modern and sophisticated winemaking techniques from France.The team combines several nationalities and gathers broad international experience, which serve to understand and foster the potential of the Terroir.

Today, the estate is one of the most distinct wine Chateau in Asia and promises to become one of the top Chinese wineries and a major tourist attraction in Shandong province.
